Atlus has revealed that Vanillaware’s critically acclaimed RTS-visual novel hybrid 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will launch on Switch worldwide in April 2022. The news comes from a video posted this morning to Atlus’ Japanese YouTube account, which confirmed a Japanese release date of April 14, 2022. A later video from Sega Europe, embedded below, confirms a rest-of-the-world release date of April 12, 2022. The 90-second trailer shows off some accolades for the game and briefly introduces the game’s story and characters.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim did not sell huge numbers on PS4, but it was very well received by those who did play it, which makes the game’s second lease on life on Switch all the more exciting. The game holds a very strong Metacritic score of 85, and despite underwhelming PS4 performance, Atlus asked fans about interest in a potential port in February 2020. It’s great that Atlus is giving the game another chance. We will see soon enough if Switch owners take to the game more than PS4 owners did.
