Sources indicate Disney are preparing not one, but two further Star Wars games in addition to Star Wars 1313…
Over the past few days Kotaku have revealed through their sources that Star Wars: First Assault, a downloadable squad-based third person shooter is set to be released as a prequel to the long-awaited Star Wars: Battlefront 3.
The first rumours about First Assault surfaced last fall, although there was very little information to make any bold predictions. This new Star Wars title was estimated to release around this spring, but following Disney’s acquisition of LucasArts, it has subsequently been postponed along with Star Wars 1313.
Star Wars First Assault is a Battlefield-like shooter in the setting of the George Lucas’ famous universe. The game is focused on the battles up to 16 players on a single map in several different game modes. The developers also planned for a small single-player campaign, to uncover more story of the rebels and stormtroopers conflict. One fact that seems clear is that First Assault is a classic shooter, and unfortunately that means there can not be any Jedi. In the leaked trailer below you can see the worlds of Bespin and Tatooine.
The current status of Star Wars First Assault, Star Wars: Battlefront 3, Star Wars 1313 is still unknown. Star Wars 1313 was originally announced for next generation consoles at E3 2012. There was no mention of the Wii U, but considering Disney and Nintendo have similar target audiences it’s not too outlandish to hope for these titles to hit a Nintendo console near you.
