The rumor mill surrounding Nintendo’s forthcoming system, Codename: NX, has been running hard for quite some time now. Almost every week there seems to be something new to add to the table. While it’s still very much unclear as to exactly what the system will turn out to be, there’s no denying that almost all of the rumors that have been released thus far have been more than interesting.
The newest detail to add to the pool has just been released, coming from Takashi Mochizuki, a Tech Reporter from the Wall Street Journal in Toyko. He cites a report from David Gibson, another person involved in technology who also resides in Tokyo. Here’s Mr. Mochizuki’s tweet:
Very interesting report by @gibbogame: Nintendo's NX may work with smartphones, PCs and even rival consoles such as PlayStation4.

This new detail certainly has the ability to raise a few eyebrows; your’s may already be just like that. To put it into perspective, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn from Square Enix allows players on PC and PS4 to play with each other online. If this rumor is true, then the NX could possess a similar feature. The Wii U has already demonstrated this ability as well, with Ripstone Games’ Pure Chess, which allows Wii U players to play against both PC and mobile players in online matches.
All-in-all, the Nintendo NX is definitely shaping up to be a very intriguing system. Nintendo has said on multiple occasions that they will be discussing it in an official capacity this year, so let’s sit back and watch the magic unfold!
