The Nintendo Switch had such a huge wave of momentum when it launched back in March that supply constraints have been an issue since then. New shipments of units have been sporadic, which has made it pretty difficult for a lot of folks to find and pick one up. When they do come in, usually they’re bought up in just a matter of minutes. If you’ve been having trouble securing a Switch system, then GameStop has some pretty good news.
The US retailer has announced that all of its locations will have Switch systems avaliable as of today (August 15th). These are the standard $300 bundles which come with just the console. GameStop has been selling Switch units bundled with games over the past few months, which is more expensive than the MSRP as you would expect.
For those of you on a budget, you can save money on your Switch purchase by means of the special system trade-in promotion that GameStop is offering. Here’s how much dollars you can get off your Switch purchase when you trade in the following consoles:
- $200 off for a PS4/PS4 Pro
- $150 off for an Xbox One/S
- $100 off for a New 3DS/XL, PS Vita or Wii U
- $74 off for a 3DS/3DS XL (original)
Nintendo did mention a few weeks ago that it’s working hard to try and increase production in order to reduce supply constraints. This announcement from GameStop could possibly indicate that Nintendo has been making progress with fulfilling that promise. Still, there’s no telling how long GameStop will have units avaliable, and the quantity of systems may very well differ depending on what area you live in. With that in mind, if you really want a Switch now, act quickly!
