It’s January, which means it’s Nintendo Direct time! Right? Right? Well, that’s what quite a number of Nintendo fans are waiting for, and the company is very well aware of this. Rumors started spreading a few weeks ago that a new Direct presentation would air later this month, but Nintendo has not said anything. It looks like the silence is deliberate too.

The Nintendo of America Twitter account has posted a few tweets that are passively-trolling fans over the announcement (or rather, a lack thereof). The tweet that really stands out is this one from just earlier today, January 10th, which is a day before the rumored Direct is supposed to air:

Whoever’s running the account is obviously having a very fun time with this whole situation. Nintendo has clearly caught wind of the rumors and is subtly teasing fans at their own expense. This is actually pretty clever, even if it is a bit frustrating for the fans.

Nintendo of Russia has been a little more kindhearted, recently replying to a comment on Facebook telling fans to “expect something soon”.
