The weekly sales numbers from Japan have recently been released, courtesy of the usual source Media Create. Media Create’s latest report (for the week of July 2, 2018 to July 8, 2018) shows that the Nintendo Switch is continuing to lead the pack on the hardware charts. The system has been holding its own in first place for quite some time now in Japan so this isn’t really all that surprising. The Switch’s hybrid functionality (on top of still being the “hot, new system”) is really what’s making it so attractive to Japanese gamers.
Here are this week’s rankings. Numbers for the previous week are shown in brackets (“”):
- Nintendo Switch – 44,237 – [50, 762]
- PS4 + PS4 Pro – 17,834 [18,811]
- New Nintendo 2DS XL + 2DS – 4,493[ 4,628]
- PS Vita – 3,444 – [3,470]
- New 3DS XL – 2,739 [2,695]
- Xbox One + Xbox One X – 88 –
Having been introduced to video games at the age of 3 via a Nintendo 64, A.K has grown up in the culture. A fan of simulators and racers, with a soft spot for Nintendo! But, he has a great respect for the entire video game world and enjoys watching it all expand as a whole.
