Bandai Namco’s Go Vacation is set to launch on Nintendo Switch in just a few days. This is a slightly enhanced port of the Wii version, which originally released back in late 2011. Now on Switch, Go Vacation will have slightly improved visuals (and hopefully better framerates) with a few new activities sprinkled in. But, it looks like there might be another new feature coming too. One that hasn’t really been advertised: online multiplayer.
This feature completely missing in the original Wii version, but it appears that it’s coming to the Switch version. This is suggested by the game’s listing on the eShop, which lists the number of players for local, local wireless and online at 2-4. The game’s official website only makes mention of the ability to play with up to 4 players on one system or via local wireless functionality, which is why the eShop detail is a bit confusing. Looks like we’ll have to wait until launch to find out for sure whether or not online multiplayer has been implemented.
If online play really is there, however, that would be pretty nice. Go Vacation is all about exploring a decently-sized open-world and participating in various minigames. I played the original Wii release for hours on end with my younger brother and other friends, so having the ability to play online should also be pretty fun too.
The mention of online multiplayer in the eShop listing was originally spotted by Redditor ‘wormpetrichor’. I went ahead and took a look at the listing over on my Switch and found the same thing, which you can see pictured above.
Go Vacation will land on Switch on July 27, 2018.
