Octopath Traveler is taking the top spot on the download charts in North America and Japan, but it might not be just because people prefer digital copies of the game. Instead, there have been widespread reports that the game has been difficult to find at retail. In Japan, in particular, Square put out a statement apologizing for a lack of supply. The game sold out all over the country.
Fortunately, it seems like there is positive news for Japanese RPG fans. One Japanese retailer has already said that it will be receiving a restock for the title on August 3. Although some fans will be left behind for a few weeks, it’s a welcome sign that Square is being responsive to the high demand.
