Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Version 1.6 dropped by surprise tonight. Highlighting this update is some fresh new gear straight out of Breath of the Wild. Specifically, you can now have Link wear his Champion’s Tunic from the game, and you can now access the Master Cycle Zero as a kart in the game. In addition, you can now trick your ride out with Ancient Tires and the Paraglider, meaning that one of Nintendo’s biggest games ever is now officially represented in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This is the second free update in as many months after June saw Labo support added to the game.

This makes a lot of sense. We really should have seen this coming as soon as the Master Cycle was revealed as part of Breath of the Wild’s expansion pack.
So, will this be enough to prompt a return to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, or were you hoping for some more expansive DLC? Are you wishing that some other Nintendo franchises would show up in this iconic kart racer, or are you happy that Link is getting a little more love?
