Diablo III will be one of the first games to make use of Nintendo Online’s app for voice chat. Players will have to have the Nintendo Online app downloaded on their smartphones in order to utilize the voice chat feature.
Blizzard’s Switch version of the title will feature multiplayer on a single Switch, local with more than one Switch, or wirelessly online. For those, who will be playing online, a chat feature will be essential for a solid coordinated gaming experience. Keep in mind that there is no internal voice chat option for the Nintendo Switch. Players will have to chat via Nintendo Online’s app or any other third-party option via a smartphone or handheld device. As a clarification, this is, of course, unless game developers decide to incorporate an in-game feature like the cross-platform chat available in Fortnite. However, that is not the case with Diablo III.
This method of voice chat is sure to elicit vocal reactions from the more ardent Diablo III fanbase as well as any other Nintendo gamer who anticipated a voice chat offering for future multiplayer games. What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Online app’s voice chat feature? Do you think Nintendo should find a way to make voice chat available directly on the console? Or does it not really matter all that much? We’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

If a game is all about action, there’s a safe bet I’m playing it. I started laying waste to virtual worlds as a youngin’ on the ol’ Atari and haven’t stopped since.
