Last night’s Direct showed the world official Nintendo wireless controllers for the Switch, meant to play the system’s upcoming downloadable NES titles. Interestingly, this news helped an earlier rumor gain some credence: Super Nintendo controllers (and games) might be on the way to the console, as well.
Aren't the Nintendo Switch controllers cool? pic.twitter.com/MFtTtR1kRZ

Around the end of last month, Twitter user Eman Cisab datamined Switch firmware update 6.0 and found the above image. The seventh icon from the left resembles a SNES controller. Also, suspiciously, NES controllers are part of the image, which were confirmed as real during the Direct. If you think about the datamine and yesterday’s NES news, it isn’t much of a stretch to assume SNES titles and peripherals will hit Nintendo’s hit hybrid soon. Boy, I’m glad I went out of my way to get those two Classic Edition consoles!
Any readers think the Switch will get 16-bit era games? Are the NES Classic and SNES Classic now obsolete? Leave a thought in the comment section below.
