It looks like the Wii U will be seeing the release of yet another game in its library this year. Early last month, Josh Fairhurst of Limited Run Games revealed the company would see a title of theirs launching on the Wii U’s eShop. This week, developer Ultra Dolphin Revolution revealed their latest game will release exclusively for the Wii U. The game, called Sinister Assistant, is an adventure title inspired by the “8-bit games of the day.”
You are Emuela, a master wizard who likes to hold back her own strength to give her foes a “fighting chance.” She is on a quest. For what? No one knows. But we do know there will be (minor) destruction and property damage along the way. In this world, encounter familiar and new enemies that will stand in your way on your quest for… Goddess knows what! Travel through different worlds and encounter dangerous creatures in Sinister Assistant. Something sinister comes this way, and it’s you!
The game is expected to release later this fall, in North America, Europe, and Australia for $3.99 / € 3.99. No gameplay footage has been revealed, but we do have a few screenshots to gawk over.
Ultra Dolphin Revolution specializes in retro-styled video games. The developer has released five games on the Wii U’s eShop prior to Sinister Assistant: Shadow Archer, Space Hunter, Super Ultra Star Shooter, Spellcaster’s Assistant and Shadow Archery.
Despite the Nintendo Switch’s current success and its predecessor’s unpopularity, the Wii U is still seeing its small share of games. Battle Princess Madelyn is still in its release cannon, while the final Shovel Knight expansion, Shovel Knight: King of Cards, will release on April 9, 2019. Nintendo’s slowly watching its Wii U die in favor of focusing on the Nintendo Switch and 3DS consoles. And we don’t blame them.
