The 3DS is still a handheld in its youth. Not even 8-years-old, the spry platform is still getting firmware updates. Like the last 20 console updates, however, this one does not do a whole lot. No actual features were added, and the 3DS just got more stable. Here’s the full text on the changes:

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

Sarcasm aside, the 3DS is still getting new games released. Luigi’s Mansion just got a re-release on the platform, while Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey is still coming in January of next year.
