Away: Journey to the Unexpected launches for Switch in February

During the Kinda Funny Games Showcase, Playdius Games revealed that Away: Journey to the Unexpected will launch for Switch on February 7th. The first-person action-adventure game fuses anime and rogue-likes for a heartwarming adventure.

You play as a character that is only equipped with a stick to fight against hordes of enemies. If you think that makes you useless, you’d be wrong. Your character excels at being social, which means that he has no problem adding new people to join his party. One cool thing about the game is that every character you recruit plays, looks, and acts differently. Since everyone is unique, Away: Journey to the Unexpected reflects that. I played a demo of the game at PAX East 2017, and there was a character with a crack in his glasses. The screen had a crack since that’s how the character viewed the world.

There are also characters that can’t see colors. Their looks, movements, and weaponry all make for an experience unlike any other. Away: Journey to the Unexpected wowed me two years ago, and I can’t wait to see the full version when it launches on February 7th. If you’re a fan of roguelikes, anime, and first-person shooters, definitely be on the lookout for Away.
