Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been out for less than a day, but that has not stopped the game from shooting up Amazon’s top-selling games list of 2018. As of right now, the game occupies the top spot for the entire year, ahead of even PSN cards, which are perpetually the top-selling gaming products each year. For reference, the website’s next best-selling games are Super Mario Party and Red Dead Redemption 2, respectively. Perhaps Amazon’s customers have a bit of a Nintendo bias, but that does not mask the fact that Ultimate’s one-day sales must be close to record-breaking.
Nintendo is keeping Smash Bros. alive long past its launch. The company will be releasing new DLC characters throughout the upcoming months. While Pirhana Plant was already announced as a playable character for those that pre-ordered the game, Nintendo announced yesterday at The Game Awards that Joker, from Persona 5, will be the first paid DLC character.
For those that have yet to pick up the game, critical reception has been strong for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game is one of the best-reviewed games of the year on Metacritic and the best-reviewed on Switch. If you’ve already picked up the title, let us know how you like it so far!
