Pokémon GO has had quite the exciting year in 2018. With long-awaited features finally being added to the game, Pokémon GO saw it’s player base at it’s highest since the game’s launch in 2016. The game’s earnings have proven the truth to this as mobile tracker Sensor Tower revealed that Pokémon GO generated $795 million in worldwide revenue during 2018. That’s a 35% increase over 2017!
When it comes to the makeup of these numbers, it appears US players spent the most money on the game at $262 million, while Japanese players were second at $239 million. The game generated an average of $2.2 million daily in 2018, which is also an increase from 2017. December was a very profitable month for Pokémon GO as well. The game earned $75 million, significantly more than the $57.2 million generated in December 2017.
It’s safe to say 2018 was a successful year for Pokémon GO. Hopefully, Niantic can keep it up with all the great updates and in-game events for 2019. Are you still playing Pokémon GO? Are you surprised by these numbers? Be sure to share all your thoughts with us in the comments down below!
