Nintendo Twitter has confirmed that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will land on Switch on Apr. 30, and the announcement comes with a really darn pretty piece of art from Akihiko Yoshida. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 are reportedly coming Apr. 16.

I bought Final Fantasy XII at launch on PlayStation 2, and I really, really didn’t like it. It bored me to tears and I finally just stopped playing it. The central conflict just seemed to be so divorced from the main characters to me, so I didn’t get any sense of investment. It wasn’t till long after the fact that I realized that I was supposed to treat the game’s narrative as I would that of Final Fantasy Tactics, so I would like to give the game one more shot. However, I hated the game’s battle system at least as much as the story, sooo it’s still going to be an uphill battle for me.
I thought Final Fantasy X was pretty excellent overall though, despite its linearity compared to previous entries. Final Fantasy X-2 was great too in its own strange way. But what about you? Do your opinions on these games differ? Or have you never played them, and if so, are you hyped to finally get your hands on them on a Nintendo console? I have to admit I’m pretty giddy to see these games finally appearing on Nintendo hardware!
