Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! are quite the popular pair of Switch titles. The games sold three million units in three days, which broke records. Now that a few months have past, we can gauge if those initial sales were just a fluke. Just kidding, this is Pokemon we are talking about. The RPGs have sold a combined 10 million copies as of December 31, 2018, according to Nintendo’s investor page.
The costume dress-up was a huge draw
The Let’s Go series is now Nintendo Switch’s 5th best selling video game. It has a ways to go to dethrone Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but I’m sure it will continue to sell like gangbusters until the next entry in the Pokemon series launches on the Switch. I’m also positive the pair of games will explode in popularity once Detective Pikachu hits the big screen in May. Well, at least the Pikachu version.
I like Let’s Go. It’s not my favorite game because I feel like it’s too easy and I miss the random battle mechanic. However, throwing the Pokeball accessory at the cute little critters feels intuitive, and I love dressing up Pikachu in various garb. Having fun is what is most important to me, regardless of difficulty.
Are you surprised Let’s Go sold so many copies in so short a time? Can anything stop Pokemon’s worldwide popularity? Give us your thoughts in written form below!
