Tokyo RPG Factory has been hard at work bringing classic RPGs to modern day gaming. Their previous releases I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear are testaments to this goal. Their next title, Oninaki, continues that trend.
In Oninaki, you play as a Watcher who must save lost souls from the Beyond. These souls then manifest into different combat abilities. Think of these as character classes in typical RPGs. In this case, you switch souls around depending on the situation.
It is clear that Tokyo RPG Factory has a love for classic RPGs. I Am Setsuna was their take on the Chrono Trigger formula. Each release since sees them moving further into their own groove.
Oninaki will release for Nintendo Switch this summer.
