EVO is the premier fighting game tournament, so renowned in the video game community that even fighting game no-nothings such as I watch it. The game lineup for EVO 2019 has now been announced, and while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has entered the lineup, Super Smash Bros. Melee is officially out. Here is the final list:
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Samurai Shodown (Whoa, really? Uh, cool)
- SoulCalibur VI
- Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Tekken 7
- Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]
Melee drove major views to EVO during its time at the event, and the game likely has the largest, most dedicated hardcore scene of any entry in the Smash Bros. series. However, games have to be put to bed eventually at major events like this, even classics like Melee and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (the latter of which was my favorite EVO game to watch ever year). Even still, EVO posted an official thank you video for Super Smash Bros. Melee, which you can view below.
