Xbox and Nintendo might be sitting in a tree someday soon. A partnership between the two video game giants has been rumored for some time, but nothing concrete has been solidified. However, some recent Nintendo images that appeared on Xbox One’s Mixer Banner are causing this cooperation gossip to flare up again.

As Jack Skellington once said, “What does it mean?!”

UK writer and video game insider Liam Robertson posted the following proof of the Nintendo pics on Twitter:

It’s quite clear that there are four ladies from Nintendo featured on the Xbox One banner: Princess Peach (Toadstool, if you’re nasty), Isabelle, Lucina, and Inkling Girl.

Let’s take a look at some facts: the Xbox One Mixer Banner is a live-streaming platform that features various video games from various companies. Therefore, it’s not completely out of the ordinary for Nintendo characters to show up on the banner. Additionally, March 8 is International Women’s Day. Microsoft can simply be celebrating some badass ladies. We all know how much of a god Isabelle is in every game she has appeared, after all.

On the other hand, there are multiple reports that point to an Xbox/Nintendo ultimate fusion of some kind. What better way to tease and build up to a team up announcement than by Microsoft using their own banners on Xbox One to showcase Nintendo heroines? One thing is for sure, though. If gamers start seeing Ori and Cuphead images on their Switches when they boot them up one day, some big news is going to be an inevitability.

What are you fellow readers pondering? Are these images of Nintendo mascots pointing to something more than a celebration of International Women’s Day? Let us know your predictions in the comments below!
