Turok: Dinosaur Hunter revealed for Switch release later this month

UPDATE: Turok 2 has also been confirmed to be released later on Nintendo Switch.

Watch out, prehistoric lizards! Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 18th.

Word originally broke out on a Resetera forum post where a listing was found on Nintendo’s Canadian site. The North American listing and announcement were made shortly after.

It has been confirmed that this is the PC remaster by Nightdive Studios. These are the guys responsible for bringing back other first-person classics such as System Shock and Forsaken. Bringing Turok: Dinosaur Hunter to Switch makes sense both for the install base and nostalgia for Nintendo fans.

Originally released in 1997, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter became an instant classic on the N64. The graphics and gruesome action set it apart on Nintendo’s largely family-friendly console. Nightdive Studios released a remastered version for PC in 2015 followed by an Xbox One port in 2018.

If this port proves to be a success, we may see more of Nightdive’s remasters come to Switch. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil would be fun to see (especially with that Cerebral Bore weapon). And maybe their upcoming remaster of Blood will find a home on Nintendo’s handheld hybrid. There’s a lot of room for these titles on Switch! Let us know which classic FPS titles you would like to see in the comments.
