Pokémon mobile games earn $2.5 billion

Keep your eyes from exploding out of your head with shock when I say this, but — Pokémon is popular. In fact, the franchise is popular enough that the Pokémon mobile (i.e., non-console) offerings have roughly earned a collective $2.5 billion so far, according to SensorTower. Pokémon GO accounts for an enormous 98 percent of that revenue, followed by a “paltry” $25 million from Pokémon Shuffle Mobile. Pokémon Duel, Pokémon Quest, Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, and Pokémon TCG Online compose the rest of the revenue.

Interestingly, $875 million has been raked in from the United States alone, and Japan (with less than half the population) has spent $725 million on the games. So basically, almost 65 percent of all revenue for Pokémon mobile games has come from two countries. That means there is still enormous global growth potential to exploit, and the Pokémon Company must be really licking its chops at the prospect.
