Keep your heads on straight this spring! Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch.
This turn-based strategy title was originally released for Xbox 360 and PC in 2013. It boasts gameplay largely inspired by Advance Wars and a wacky vibe despite all the undead samurai. There was even an animated series starring John DiMaggio (Bender, Marcus Fenix).
In Skulls of the Shogun, you play as the deceased General Akamoto who controls a skeleton army. Make your way through four regions of the afterlife and reclaim the glory that slipped past your now boney fingers. Kill your enemies, eat skulls to gain power, and haunt ricefields in this modern indie classic.
The Nintendo Switch Bone-A-Fide Edition has some nice additions from the original release. There’s a new player progression system, new episode, and even a new battle unit called the Tanuki Monk. Plus there’s developer commentary.
Skulls of the Shogun came out at the tail end of the Xbox 360 run of quality indie titles. We have already seen games like Bastion, Mark of the Ninja, and Dust: An Elysian Tail come to Switch. So it’s nice to see this get a second life on Nintendo’s platform as well. If you dig the idea of arcade-style strategy, this is your jam.
Watch out for Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition on Nintendo Switch this spring.
