Steve Irwin has made the leap to the realm of Pokémon as a Pokémon trainer. It’s actually quite fitting, isn’t it? And it certainly honors his legacy as a friend to the wildlife of the world — even if that is Pokémon in a fictional setting. One Instagram user, vivinkart, shared a vision of what the Pokémon master, Steve Irwin, might look like.

Steve Irwin would be the perfect Pokemon Champion if there was an Aussie region! #pokemon #pokemonfanart #pokemonstraya #australianpokemon #steveirwin #ripsteveirwin #crikey #pokemontrainer #totodile #krokorok #pokemonchampion #pokemoncharacter #conceptart #iswearillstopuploadingfanartsoon
Steve Irwin, also known as the Crocodile Hunter for over a decade, was a television spectacle to behold until his untimely death in 2006. He was a beloved figure among the many viewers who watched his shows. It was there that he brought the wild to everyone’s front doorstep, teaching people about animals they might never have a chance to see in person all while bringing attention to the plight of endangered species and the need to protect them.
As vivinkart noted, it would be fun to see Steve Irwin make an appearance in any future region that is based on Australia. It might also be an emotional gut punch for many of us! And, perhaps, Irwin wouldn’t be the type to battle Pokémon, but train them, care for them, study, and protect them.
Would you like to see Steve Irwin honored in the Pokémon saga? If so, what sort of role do you think he’d play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
Accountant by day, video games enthusiast by night. Somewhere in between all of that, I’m a husband, dad, and generally a giant man-child, too. If a game is all about action, there’s a safe bet I’m playing it. I started laying waste to virtual worlds as a youngin’ on the ol’ Atari and haven’t stopped since.
