I’ve been wanting to get a video game-themed tattoo for some time. I have five of them already, but none are geared towards one of the things I love most: gaming. The decision-making process for tattoos in general, at least for me, is more than a decision on a whim. I’d like to know that what’s being produced permanently on my body isn’t subpar. That’s one of the reasons that I started following tattoo artist Chase Tafoya. And it’s how I discovered an incredible Zelda tattoo.
Track record of quality and quips
Browsing through Tafoya’s Instagram feed is nothing short of a feast for the eyes. There are fandom mock-ups of the Ninja Turtles cast, things like Star Wars re-imaginations, and even Sweet Tooth. I often marvel at the insane amount of quality that is done not only with his drawings, but also the ink that he uses to transcribe these images to flesh. That is of course how I came to find this Legend of Zelda Link piece that was started the other day.
It’s obvious that the piece isn’t quite done yet. This is the start of a much larger portrait that is being done on the subject. Tafoya notes in the caption for the image, “Zelda was one of my favorite games as a kid! Started Link today, and adding all the monsters next session.” It also looks like a Skull Kid depiction might be above Link’s head, as a sketch of this is off in the distance.
Judging by the coloring that’s already been completed, there’s no doubt the final product is going to look amazing.
If you’d like to know more about the Chase Tafoya, give him a follow on social media. And if you’re in the Oregon area and need a gaming tattoo, you’ll be in more than just good hands when he starts to let the need rip.
