Where rumors are concerned, you should always get ready to cock an eyebrow, but at least a couple different sources are now pointing to April 11 as the date of the next general Nintendo Direct. One of them even name-drops Super Mario Maker 2 as its main focus.
First, there is Twitter user @Newmarkomaro, who made this claim as early as March 24. This is the user that says the emphasis will be on Super Mario Maker 2, and in a tweet a week later, the user makes an even bigger claim:
So, there is a big reason on why Nintendo didn't give a solid release date for Super Mario Maker 2 and it's because it's another Nintendo product that will be release also in June and they should be launched together. In April you will get all the answers.

The second source of the April 11 Nintendo Direct date, Gaming INTEL, does not claim to know anything about what will be in the Direct. They only offer up April 11 as what they believe to be a credible date. However, it should be noted that there are concerns about the way Gaming INTEL receives its leaks.
The last general Nintendo Direct was on February 13, and with the reveals of Astral Chain and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, it was fantastic. At any rate, if this rumor is true, we are bound to receive confirmation very soon. Stay tuned!
