Nintendo has rolled out a brand new version of the Switch Online companion app (version 1.5.0). The new patch has hit both iOS and Android devices. While it makes some improvements, it has also taken things away—namely, support for older versions of Android and iOS.

Here are the patch notes:

  • Various improvements have been made for performance and ease of use, including changes to button locations.
  • Various issues are now resolved.

If you own an Android handset, then your device must now be running version 5.0 (Lolipop) or higher in order to use the app. For iOS users, you’ll need a device running iOS 10.0 or higher to use the app.

Considering that Android 5.0 was released all the way back in 2014, there are still quite a number of Android models out there that are still compatible. iOS 10 first released back in 2016 and covers devices from the iPhone 7 all the way to the iPhone 5, so again, not too many people should feel left out in Apple’s camp either.
