3DClouds has rolled out a new patch for the recently released Xenon Racer on Switch. The new patch bumps the game version up to 1.0.3. What’s changed? Well, here are the patch notes that have been taken from the studio’s Twitter post about it:
- Fixes made to balance issues
- Checkpoint and Elimination races added to the main Championship mode
- Improvements made to the AI drivers
If you’ve been following the status of this game on Switch, then you know that 3DClouds has received a lot of criticism from the community due to its mishandling of the promo material surrounding the Switch port. With initial trailers and screenshots, the Switch version was made to look as though it would provide a similar experience to the other platforms, but in reality, the game both looks and runs significantly worse on the hybrid system.
Performance and visual tweaks were not included in this patch, but will instead be made available in the next patch, which will bump the game up to version 1.0.4. 3DClouds has confirmed that this next patch “will have a major impact on performance and overall game quality”, but unfortunately, it is still under development and will be rolled out at a later date. That said, it would be best to wait until the next patch comes before playing the game, as it still runs at an average of 25FPS, as shown by ContraNetwork’s video comparison:
Having been introduced to video games at the age of 3 via a Nintendo 64, A.K has grown up in the culture. A fan of simulators and racers, with a soft spot for Nintendo! But, he has a great respect for the entire video game world and enjoys watching it all expand as a whole.
