Superheroes unite: Switch exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order assembles in July

It’s hard to believe it has been over four months since Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was announced at The Game Awards 2018. Gamers were presumably surprised to see the title unveiled as a Switch exclusive. An important grab for Nintendo, sure, but how about some concrete details? Thankfully, a release date for the superhero beat ’em up has been decided: July 19, 2019.

Here’s a blast from the past to get you up to speed on the upcoming game:

In addition to a huge roster with the likes of Wolverine, The Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Hulk, etc., the new cover art for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 drops some more heroes into the fold. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Deadpool are a delight to see. However, it’s the addition of Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales that has me the most excited. Thanks to the world of video games, we can see Sony properties play nice with Marvel ones. Of course, having the X-Men back to back with the Avengers has lost some of its luster now that Disney absorbed Fox into its colossal being.

Some small tidbits on the action RPG were provided in a press release from Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing:

In this new story, Super Heroes unite in a race across iconic locations in the Marvel Universe to find the Infinity Stones before Thanos and The Black Order use them to unleash cosmic chaos. Up to four people can play together in local* or online** co-op, with the ability to drop in and out at any time.”

Thank goodness for co-op. Anytime Thanos and The Black Order are around, the more superheroes working together, the better.
