Summer Games Done Quick 2019 SGDQ 2019 GDQ

The best semi-annual event in all of video games, Games Done Quick, is back for Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2019! SGDQ will run nonstop June 23 – 30, showcasing amazing video game speed runs in order to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. This time around, the charity event will be based out of Bloomington, Minnesota. But the most exciting thing of all is that the event schedule just dropped!

As usual, there is a lot to be excited about in this lineup. Among the Nintendo platform-centric games, we can look forward to all of these (mostly in order of scheduling): Super Mario Bros. 2, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Castlevania, Metroid Prime (and its sequel!), a The Legend of Zelda randomizer, Pok√©mon Crystal, Super Mario Sunshine, Mega Man X2, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (co-op!), Banjo Kazooie, a Super Mario World blind relay race (!) in addition to a 96-exit run, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Star Fox 64, Octopath Traveler, Mega Man 3 and 11, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, a The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past + Super Metroid combo randomizer, and finally– a glitchless run of Chrono Trigger by my favorite RPG runner, puwexil.

The previous event, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2019, raised over $2.4 million when late donations were factored in, which is just mega bonkers. Here’s to hoping SGDQ 2019 can climb that mountain and raise even more.

Personally, I preferred the lineup of AGDQ 2019, but that’s fine. Puwexil and Chrono Trigger to close the event is awesome all by itself in my book. Check out the full schedule and let us know which games you’re looking forward to!
