On April 15, 2019, Mr. Reggie Fils-Aime formally left his position as the President of Nintendo of America to retire. As a result, Mr. Doug Bowser was promoted to Reggie’s former position. But, what about Mr. Bowser’s old position as Senior Vice President of NoA’s marketing division? That now chair now belongs to Mr. Nick Chavez.
The transition of power to Mr. Chavez has mostly gone unnoticed due to the all the fanfare surrounding Reggie’s departure, but now that he’s in the role it will be interesting to see what changes he brings to Nintendo of America’s marketing tactics (if he does happen to bring any at all). The formula that Mr. Bowser put into place during the relatively short time he was SVP has been notably good since the Switch’s marketing has been considered to be far better than past Nintendo systems by both fans and some analysts. Thus, Mr. Chavez will likely continue in Mr. Bowser’s footsteps moving forward.
One interesting thing to note about this news as pointed out by one fan is that it is likely Mr. Chavez will one day become the President of Nintendo of America. Just like Mr. Bowser, Mr. Fils-Aime also held the position of SVP of the Marketing Division before he was promoted to President back in the early 2000s. Thus, don’t be surprised if you start seeing Mr. Chavez more frequently in the future.
