The Nintendo Switch has officially crossed the 8 million unit milestone over in Japan. This news comes just after it’s been confirmed that the system has outsold the Nintendo 64 in worldwide sales with a unit count currently at 32.27 million.

With the Nintendo Switch hitting 8 million units in Japan, it’s on track to soon outpace the PS4’s total sales in the region very soon. Given that the PS4 has been on the market for over five years at this point, it shows just how much of a liking the Japanese market has taken to that of the Switch. Though, this isn’t completely surprising given the fact that the Switch’s portable capabilities more favored by most Japanese gamers over traditional home consoles.
