According to a report from GameReactor, it appears that Nintendo is asking retailers in Spain to deplete their remaining stock of 2DS units by Summer 2019. A specific reason for such a request has not been given, but it could indicate that Nintendo really is planning on introducing a new Switch model by that time.

During a recent investor’s briefing, Nintendo President Furukawa denied that the company will be making announcements of new hardware at E3 2019. That doesn’t totally destroy the rumor of a new Switch model coming, it simply means that Nintendo isn’t ready to announce it—if one really is on the cards.

All of this information is being classified as a rumor due to Nintendo not coming forth with an official statement. We’ll see what happens this summer.
