Reprints of the Ancient Mew Pokémon trading card will be given out to those that see Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution in Japanese theaters upon its release this year. This card hasn’t been released since its original promo in 2000 in North America. Back then, it was given to fans who saw Pokémon: The Movie 2000 in theaters.
The card is printed in an ancient runic language. Despite being so legendary, Ancient Mew only has 30 hit points. This along with its nearly undecipherable text makes it ultimately useless in any real battles. But the main draw of Ancient Mew is the art itself. The art features a hieroglyphic-styled drawing of Mew. The cosmic colors along with the historic feel of the art really make it feel special.
Promotional cards are handed out all the time at Pokémon premieres. Most recently, those who saw Detective Pikachu received special cards based on Pokémon in the film.
However, this release is special since the Ancient Mew card is important to many longtime fans. Since the card has been out of print for some time, it’s undoubtedly going to be a hit.
What do you guys think about this? What other promotional cards would you like to see reprinted? Let us know in the comments below!
I love all kinds of video games. I personally find the most enjoyment in JRPGs, Visual Novels, and pretty much anything Nintendo makes. I’m always open to discovering new types of games, so I’ll be happy to check out anything someone suggests.
