super smash bros. main

Super Smash Bros. is such a simple concept, but Nintendo executes it perfectly. Nintendo has the biggest and best lineup of exclusive characters around. Why not bring them together for one big crossover event? This fighting series has been flying off the shelves since the Nintendo 64 days, but nothing compares to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Switch edition lives up to its name by including every past fighter, plus some newcomers. With so many characters to choose from, who do you play as your main?

My Smash main has changed quite a bit over the years. I mostly played Pikachu and Link in the first game. By the time Brawl rolled around I was most fond of Kirby and Toon Link.  But I really found my footing with Samus on the Wii U, and I haven’t looked back. She’ll likely be my main forever. When the game’s DLC started trickling out, I added Cloud to my roster, and he quickly became my second best character.

Those skills transferred nicely to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so Samus and Cloud remain my strongest fighters. I wasn’t happy with some of the changes to Toon Link, so recently I’ve dropped him in favor of Young Link. My roster was severely lacking in heavy characters, so I’ve picked up Ganondorf as well. His increased speed, reduced ending lag and buffed smash attacks all make him feel like a new character.

So how about you? Who’s your go-to fighter when you need a win? Let us know your Smash mains in the comments below!
