Pokémon Rumble Rush has been officially announced by the Pokémon Company for Android and iOS mobile devices worldwide, and in fact, it is already available for Android users in Australia. The game is a free-to-start beat ’em up where you explore different islands and pulverize any Pokémon who don’t play nice with you.
To play, you tap the screen to send your partner Pokémon to intercept and defeat the mean Pokémon. There is then a chance those defeated guys will partner up with you too, expanding your team. The Pokémon Company promises hundreds of different species of Pokémon in Pokémon Rumble Rush, including Legendary and Mythic types. There will also be “Super Boss” fights that yield items to power up your team if victorious.
There will be a hint mechanism for figuring out which Pokémon live in a given region. And on occasion, you might spot hot air balloons of other adventurers, and tapping the balloons will allow you to access new stages and maybe find new critters.
The Pokémon Rumble series began life on the Wii as a downloadable title in 2009. Pokémon Rumble Blast followed on 3DS for a physical release in 2011. Pokémon Rumble U came to the Wii U eShop in 2013, and finally Pokémon Rumble World arrived on 3DS in 2015. These little guys have been duking it out for a long time now leading up to Pokémon Rumble Rush.
