A launch trailer on a launch day — yep, the logic lines up. Konami has released the Castlevania Anniversary Collection launch trailer to commemorate its release today for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is a digital-only purchase, sadly, but it’s better than nothing. It retails at $19.99.
Castlevania Anniversary Collection includes Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania: The Adventure, Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge, Castlevania: Bloodlines, and Kid Dracula. Adventure and Belmont’s Revenge are Game Boy titles, Bloodlines is a Sega Genesis title, and Kid Dracula is a NES game available for the first time in English. Now view it all in action in the launch trailer:
For fans of all the early, arcadey platformers in the Castlevania series, Castlevania Anniversary Collection is a big treat. It’s only really lacking Dracula X. So if you want to kill Dracula over and over again, here’s your chance.
Other fans, such as I, will hold out hope for an eventual Collection 2 that contains some of the “Igavania” entries in the series, like Symphony of the Night, Circle of the Moon, and Order of Ecclesia. Maybe even later 3D entries like Lament of Innocence and/or Curse of Darkness.
Anyway, let us know if you’ll be picking this one up. And remember — buying this collection means you’re sending a message to Konami that we want more Castlevania!
