Remember DC Universe Online, DC Comics’ very own free-to-play super hero MMO? Honestly, I’d completely forgotten it existed until a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean the game doesn’t maintain a large and loyal following. First launched for PlayStation 3 and PC in 2011, then ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch this summer. With it, it brings the maturity and depth of content that one would expect of an MMO that’s been running for over eight years.
Unfortunately, the game will not feature crossplay, so Warner Bros. and developer Daybreak Game Company must really believe in the fervor of the Switch audience for the title. DC Universe Online will also undergo “small element changes” to make a smooth transition to Switch. Otherwise, this sounds like the same game fans have always enjoyed: You make your own hero or villain, and then you go on adventures alongside or against the likes of Superman, Batman, the Joker, and so many more.
So basically, you can interact with the entire DC universe on the go now, assuming you have some great Wi-Fi to work with. It’s crisis on infinite Switches from this point forward! Check out the little teaser video from CBR, who broke this story.
Between this and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, it is a wonderful time to be a comic book fan with a Switch.
