We know at this point that Nintendo and Microsoft have forged a very close partnership. But, exactly how close have the two become? Well, extremely close seems to be the case, as Microsoft has proudly listed the upcoming Nintendo Direct under its own E3 schedule.

Ok…but why, Microsoft?

My guess is as good as yours on this one. But, let’s deduce.

Other companies’ briefings are also on this schedule, such as Ubisoft and Square Enix. However, all of those other briefings are from third-party companies which make games for Xbox One and PC. So, it’s only natural that Microsoft would have them on this list. With that said, what about Nintendo?

Well, this could potentially hint that another big Xbox-Nintendo announcement is on the way. After all, it would be strange for Microsoft to shout Nintendo out like this if there wasn’t something Xbox-related slated in the upcoming Direct. That being the case, you should certainly keep your eyes peeled on the Direct. It may very well have an announcement that goes beyond the realm of something like new Minecraft content. Plenty of people have hoped for certain Microsoft franchises to appear in Smash Bros., too. But who can really say what it will be?

There have been so many rumors this past year of these two companies deepening their relationship, such as Xbox Live fully coming to Switch, along with Xbox Game Pass and the new Project xCloud streaming service. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a definitive answer to these from the Direct. Or, if there really is an announcement, it could be something totally different. We’ll find out very soon.
