Luigi's Mansion 3

Luigi’s Mansion 3 took on a big role in today’s E3 Nintendo Direct. While it had the spotlight, we learned a lot about the game’s premise, new gameplay features, and the multiplayer mode. Finally, the game was officially slated for a 2019 release.

A hotel is confirmed to be the setting for Luigi’s Mansion 3.  Mario, Peach, and others had been invited to the hotel under the guise of a glorious vacation, but things took a turn for the spooky when ghosts emerged. Now, Luigi’s friends are nowhere to be found.

Behind the might of his new Poltergust G-00, the Direct revealed several new abilities that Luigi will have to use to clear this hotel of its haunting. Luigi’s new Poltergust can slam ghosts into the ground, fire plungers, and launch Luigi into the air with a powerful burst. Luigi also has an ectoplasmic partner, Gooigi, who can be controlled by the player or by a partner in co-op. In the Direct, we saw that he can walk through spikes and grates and learned that he does not get along well with water.

The Direct also revealed Luigi’s Mansion 3’s multiplayer ScareScraper mode. ScareScraper has local and online play and will pit players against challenges such as catching ghosts against a clock and finding lost Toads.

If you want to learn more, keep an eye on Nintendo’s Treehouse presentations on Nintendo’s YouTube channel throughout the week. It will feature some Luigi’s Mansion 3 gameplay at some point during this week. How is Luigi’s latest adventure looking to you so far?
