Back in 2017, Activision and Toys for Bob wowed retro marsupial enthusiasts with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. After that, they recaptured the same magic with purple dragon believers with Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018. After Crash’s debut on the Switch, gamers waited patiently for Spyro to follow suit.
At long last, after Nintendo pulled the listing last year, Spyro will finally fire up on Nintendo Switch (and PC!) on September 3.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy features remasters of Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. While Spyro is no stranger to Nintendo hardware, like Crash, his first trilogy never was ported over the years.
However, the reveal comes with an unfortunate catch. Like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, physical copies of Spyro Reignited will require an extra download, according to a listing for the game on Best Buy. Without an internet connection, you won’t be able to download Ripto’s Rage or Year of the Dragon.
Nonetheless, having the original Spyro games on Switch at last will be a real treat. Will you be picking up Spyro Reignited Trilogy later this year? If you already played it on other consoles, what were your impressions? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
