Nintendo undoubtedly took a significant technical leap with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That advancement has led some fans to question how Nintendo could continue this trend in other franchises. Reddit user _Z3D_ may have one answer to this inquiry. They recently posted a mockup of what a Pokémon and Breath of the Wild mashup could look like, and it’s nothing short of stunning.
This graphic shows a theoretical game called Pokémon: Call of the Trainer. In this mock-up, the Pokémon Trainer takes the place of Link, followed by his ever faithful Pikachu. Wild Pokémon roam the lands in their natural habitat with incredible detail. Battles look as if they’d take place in real time while remaining constrained to the four-move limit of the franchise.
Pokémon‘s HMs replace Breath of the Wild‘s items, showing off icons for Cut, Fly, Surf, Strength, and what appears to be Waterfall. Later on, we take to the skies on the back of a Charizard to explore the vast world. The image shows a great scenic variety that not even Pokémon Sword and Shield‘s Wild Area can match in realism.
As much as I’m not a fan of open world games, there’s no denying that this looks incredible. It makes me think of how a realistic Pokémon: Let’s Go might look. Unfortunately, this doesn’t exist. But to paraphrase the Reddit post’s title, we can still dream! Maybe one day we can get a Pokémon game like this. Make it happen, Game Freak!
What do you think of this Pokémon and Breath of the Wild mashup? Do you wish for a Pokémon game in this style? Make sure you head over to the Reddit thread and check out this incredible mock-up! If you like what you see, consider giving it an upvote!
