disguises

A few days ago, Pokémon developer Game Freak admitted that we may never be able to catch ’em all again. Due to development constraints, the National Dex, which records every Pokémon that has existed since the series began, is being nixed. Fans are upset that every pocket monster cannot fit into Sword and Shield, even though that number is now in the thousands. Thankfully, these gamers have turned that sadness into positive energy. A group of them are now editing or creating art depicting certain disguises to get their favorites into the Galar Region.

These disguises would totally work on a Looney Tunes villain

Here are a few cheeky costumes that are becoming memes through Reddit:

"There’s a group of Pokémon smugglers around? Don’t worry officer, me and my Grookey will look out for them." [OC] from pokemon

Don’t mind me, officer, just coming back from Hoenn with my Wooloo from pokemon

Y-yes here’s my ID. Now if you’ll excuse us, uh, I mean me…! from pokemon

Zacian is the most incredible edit I’ve seen. Three separate Pokémon to make one woofer? That’s pure talent.

In addition, one user had to fit the recently retired Reggie into the whole situation:

(OC) Oh hello officer, it’s just me, Reggie Fils-Aime, former President of Nintendo of America, spending my retirement here in the Galar region! from pokemon

I will now have nightmares for the next four days straight.

I’m glad Pokéfans are voicing their displeasure in a healthy way. I do understand their disappointment in not being able to catch all Pokémon ever again. For instance, the phrase “Gotta catch ’em all” is so ingrained in our psyches that it is hard to shake off. However, the number of beasts in the series is now impossible to keep track of all at once. Similarly, Game Freak does have a point in dropping the National Dex. Above all, if the exclusion leads to better game mechanics and more unique Pokémon to catch, then I’m all for it.

Regardless, these mashups are hilarious. Fellow Enthusiasts, which abomination is your favorite? Let us know in the comment section below!
