Did you wake up today expecting to hear news of a Cuphead Netflix show? No? Well, that makes two of us! The Cuphead Show! is coming to Netflix at an undisclosed date in the future. The show will be inspired by the same 1930s animation that inspired the game for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. However, it will be developed by Netflix’s in-house animation department, because Studio MDHR simply does not have the resources to make video games and cartoons at the same time!
Coming to you in full color and cine-sound, it's…The Cuphead Show! Witness the wondrous Inkwell Isles as you've never seen them before in an original series inspired by classic animation styles of the 1930s. Now in production by the talented team at @Netflix Animation! pic.twitter.com/4xA59eVLra

The Cuphead Show! will be about “impulsive” Cuphead and “cautious but easily swayed” Mugman, his brother, going on adventures in the Inkwell Islands. The precise story hasn’t been settled upon yet, as the show is still early in development, but it will explore new ideas and won’t just fixate on the “deal with the devil” storyline.
The intent with the show is for every frame to be hand-drawn, albeit digitally. Cuphead co-creator Chad Moldenhauer describes the process as “tradigital.” The team working on the show is as follows, according to Netflix PR:
For King Features, CJ Kettler will serve as the Executive Producer and creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer will serve as Executive Producers for Studio MDHR. The series will be produced with Netflix Animation and is executive produced by Emmy and Annie Award-winning producer, Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse) and Cosmo Segurson (Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling) serves as co-executive producer. Supervising Directors are Clay Morrow (Mickey Mouse) and Adam Paloian (SpongeBob SquarePants).
I’m on board for all of this! Let us know how you’re feeling about the announcement of The Cuphead Show! from Netflix and Studio MDHR.
