mock-up

I hope you aren’t tired of Switch Lite news because there’s always room for more! Nintendo’s redesign has the internet buzzing about the handheld-only device. One particular designer, Tom Storm, has ideas for the system’s aesthetic. Not content with the three default colors already unveiled, he decided to share a mock-up of his own. It’s a wonderful callback to Nintendo’s prominent beginnings in the portable market.

A mock-up that absolutely needs to be real

Here’s Tom’s rendering of his dream invention via Twitter:

Oh gosh, it’s the original Game Boy! It makes me nostalgic for the days when I played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan during my summer vacations.

What’s really impressive is Tom’s attention to detail. The face buttons and d-pad look identical to the ones on the Game Boy. My personal favorite homage is the “Dot Matrix With Stereo Sound” message on the upper right. I never understood what that meant but I always remember gazing upon those words whenever I whipped out my bulky Game Boy.

The Game Boy has already celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. This mock-up needs to go from being a fantasy to being tangible. Hopefully, if Nintendo decides to make something like this, it will compensate Tom GENEROUSLY.

Enthusiasts, would you buy Tom’s design if you saw it in the wild? Are you excited for the Nintendo Switch Lite in general? Let us know with a comment down below!
