Astral Chain

Astral Chain, the highly anticipated next game from renowned developer Platinum, is getting closer and closer to its release at the end of next month. For those of you planning on picking up a digital copy, your time is now: the Nintendo of America Twitter account just announced that Astral Chain can now be pre-purchased on the eShop. The file size was also revealed–Astral Chain will take up a healthy 9.6 gigs. The game is also eligible for the Switch’s voucher program. Vouchers can be redeemed through the game’s Nintendo store page.

Ever since its surprise reveal in February, Astral Chain has captivated fans. On paper, there is a short wait between announcement and release–just over six months–but man, every time we see more gameplay, that wait seems to grow longer and longer. Most recently, the game was one of many promising potential hits shown off at Nintendo’s E3 2019 presentation, where we learned about the world, story, customization options, and, of course, saw lots of high-octane, adrenaline-pumping gameplay.

The game is not out yet, but Astral Chain’s reception so far illustrates the continued positive relationship between Platinum Games and Nintendo. Ever since the Star Fox Zero debacle, Platinum has really been impressive on Nintendo platforms (plus in general). Both Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3 should continue that relationship, and since Platinum churns out quality games like Rare did in the N64 days, we might not even be that far off from their next wave of titles, whatever those may be.
