This year marks the coming of the eighth generation of Pokémon in the form of Pokémon Sword and Shield. With the new generation comes new Pokémon, new Gym Leaders, and a new hook to change up the gameplay. This time around, Dynamax—and, exclusive to certain species, Gigantamax—see Pokémon power up like never before, “up” being the operative word. In other words, Dynamaxed Pokémon will grow in obscene size and tower over their foes for a limited time, complete with new moves and a power boost.

Subsequently, this week’s reveals incidentally became the focus of a new trailer for the games. Playing in Japanese theatres (provided Google Translate didn’t fail me), the new commercial highlights Dynamaxing and the recently introduced Pokémon. The Official Pokémon YouTube dropped the trailer on their channel last night, and you can see it for yourself below!

Pokémon Sword and Shield will launch on November 15, 2019, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Consequently, a special edition Nintendo Switch Lite, featuring the new legendaries Zacian and Zamazenta, will launch a week prior on November 8.
