Update: Shortly after publication, Nintendo of America announced that Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD will be rolling out for the Switch on October 29 in North America!
Rumors about a new Super Monkey Ball game have been swirling around for a while. Sega filed trademarks for Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz within the past few months, and foreign ratings boards have listed a new Super Monkey Ball game. The wait is over, however, as a new game was revealed in the most recent issue of Weekly Famitsu.
Officially called Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball, this new game is actually a remake of 2006’s Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz for the Wii. This HD remake introduces some new features, but for now, these are remaining under wraps. We do have some screenshots, however. Say what you like about Banana Blitz, but this remake does look nice!
Though there is no word on a Western release yet, I imagine it’s just a matter of time. Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball is set to launch on October 31, 2019 for Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam. More information is set to come out in a few weeks, so I’m looking forward to seeing what else they choose to show off.
