Capcom Resident Evil secret game

Capcom’s zombie-killing franchise is on a hot streak. Resident Evil VII switched to a first-person perspective and went back to its horror roots. The result was a smash hit! Capcom then followed it up with a remake of Resident Evil 2 using the new game engine. It received even more critical acclaim! So what’s next for the beloved survival-horror franchise? We don’t know yet, but some lucky ambassadors will soon. According to an email obtained by Biohaze, Capcom is recruiting players to play test a secret game.

Capcom’s secret Resident Evil game

Thus far, this recruiting process seems to be exclusive to Japan. Capcom has ambassador programs in other countries as well, but we’ve yet to hear anything about them.  We’ll keep a look out in case that changes. In the meantime, we’re left to speculate about what sort of new experience could be in the works. Here’s what the email itself has to say:

To all Resident Evil Ambassadors,

Thank you for your patronage regarding the Resident Evil series.

Today, we are letting you know that we are recruiting testers for a game that’s in development!!

We are interested in incorporating the feedback of all Ambassadors into our development, so please read the details below and, if you are interested in participating, click the Entry button.

That’s not much to go on, but we can speculate. It’s possible that Capcom is deep in development of Resident Evil 8 already. It’s been over two years since VII, after all. It’s also possible that the secret game ambassadors get to play is a Resident Evil 3 remake. It would make sense, following the success of 2. Additionally, Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has indicated that he’d love to remake 3 if there’s enough fan support.
